Of Resolutions and TeamMates

A friend of mine makes a resolution every year at about this time. He’s a bit countercultural and so prefers the new school year to the New Year. His newest determined action got me thinking about our resolve as people, in general. Do you remember your most recent resolution?

When I was a kid, my siblings and I watched a lot of TV, probably too much. Before video killed the radio star, we watched pop bands perform on a show called American Bandstand and others like it (Does Solid Gold ring a bell for anyone?). One of the bands we saw several times was a group of brothers called The Osmonds.

Gender Differences and Anxiety

We have known for a long time that women are twice as likely as men to suffer from an anxiety problem, like Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and others. You might assume that women are more likely to ask for professional help (and studies suggest they are), but they are also more likely to report the symptoms for these problems in community surveys.
